The best age for training the cat is from 2-3 months to 18 months, but the most flourishing period is when the cat is 7 or 8 months old. By this time, the cat has passed the period of childhood and can understand what its owner needs.

There is no answer for what is more important. Everything plays its role:  the character of the animal, its temperament, age, behavior. A neutered and spayed animals are easier to train.

WHERE DO I START TRAINING?

Before you start, make sure you have a lot of free time. If you’re a student, you can use do my homework service and pay more attention to your pet!

At the first stage of training, you need to observe your cat, understand what skills it has, what it does and doesn’t like. This will help to strengthen the bond between you and your kitten. If your kitten likes jumping from the refrigerator or closet, it is better to start training with jumps. The main thing is to start with simple and easy tricks. Simple tasks help you to form obedience and consistency in the cat.

We put the cat on a chair and on the other one we put a piece of a treat. We wave our hand in the direction of the neighboring chair with the food, thus inviting the cat to jump. This method of encouragement with food gives good results in training, and cats respond well to it. After repeating the process three times, words of endearment will be enough.

Over time, change the distance little by little. It will make the cat concentrate and listen to its owner’s requests. Some cats like to roll balloons, while others like to carry their toys in their teeth, and this way, playing with the cat and watching it, you can see your pet’s abilities.

Some owners can teach a cat to carry objects from one room to another, to bring slippers or a ball to play with. Intonation during training should be calm but persistent. Training should be positive, resembling a game.

In no case you should not hit or yell at your pet, otherwise, you will be deprived of a tender emotional bond, which is almost impossible to restore.

THE CONDITIONS AND MODE OF TRAINING.

Train the cat not less than 2-3 times a week. Of course, you can take a break, but not more than half a month.

Experienced owners of cats advise training in a room where there are no irritants: sounds of music smells of food, presence, and conversations of people. The most suitable time for training is considered the first half of the day, the time before dinner. The classes are held on an empty stomach of the animal, so it will do its best during the training. Why? The cat will understand that it will be rewarded with food afterward.

In the beginning, one session should not exceed ten minutes, and then you can gradually bring them to 30 minutes. This is necessary to protect the nervous system of the animal from overloading. Give the cat prophylactic lessons 1-2 times a month so that it does not forget what it has learned.

WHAT ELSE CAN WE TEACH OUR PETS?

If you decided to teach a cat difficult tricks, you have to base it on your cat’s abilities and disposition.

There are the simplest commands that can be taught to a cat:

  • beg! (with this command the cat was taught to reach the handle with his paw and open the door);
  • give me your paw! (some cats can alternately give one and the other paw);
  • sit!
  • to me!
  • lie down!
  • fetch!
  • no!

These uncomplicated actions are easily grasped and understood by animals quite normally.

Remember that we communicate with animals through the language of feelings generated by specific sounds, facial expressions, postures, intonations. The scientific name for this is nonverbal communication language.  A great help in training your pets is this experience of non-verbal communication with them.
